Complete guide to the GoodAccess VPN gateway
A VPN gateway is a dedicated VPN cloud server that functions as a hub connecting users and company resources within a private network. Each connection is encapsulated in an encrypted tunnel to protect the transmitted data from interception. A VPN gateway is typically cloud-based; a hardware equivalent is usually called a VPN concentrator.
The gateway also houses additional features, such as IP address assignment, user authentication, or blocking communications with blacklisted domains (DNS filtering). Unlike a shared VPN server, each dedicated VPN server can have a unique static IP address, which can be used for multiple other purposes, such as IP whitelisting.
